Scottish Thistle Oatmeal Spurtle
Scottish Thistle Oatmeal Spurtle
Scottish Thistle Oatmeal Spurtle, Spurtles are a Scottish tradition, they are made for stirring the morning’s pot of oatmeal. They excel at that, plus are really great for stirring gravy, sauce, stew or a pot of hearty homemade soup. very pretty to look at, a boost for chilly winter mornings.
These are each turned one at a time, from lovely wood, sanded, soaked with water to raise the grain and sanded again. The finish is a mixture of non toxic oil and beeswax. This will keep your spurtle feeling soft and pleasant to use. To refresh rub some sunflower or mineral oil on every now and again
12 in. long X 1.75 in diameter
NOTE: The Spurtle shown is an example. Yours will be crafted from the same species of beautifully figured wood, being a one woman show I cannot take a photo of every one I make. Each and every one is an original, turned and finished by hand, one at a time, by me. The spurtle you will receive will be just as lovely as the one pictured here, I source only the best of figured wood from certified sustainable sources.
